converting base to "z-28"
converting base to "z-28"
I have a v6. I want to keep this vehicle and add every single thing necessary for it to be on par with the z-28. This includes everything in the z-28 package. does anyone know every single thing this consists of?
Another route may be just putting the LT1 in it and calling it quits there. What would I need to put an LT1 in my 3.8L 96 v6?

I honestly don't mean to **** you off but "every single thing" makes this a tough question. A 96 Z-28 or some other year?
Springs, shocks, sways. Wheels. Rear brakes. Steering box if you don't have Y87. No doubt a bunch of cosmetic stuff. I'm sure I'm leaving some things out. The first step would be to get a book or books and research this. Like "Standard Catalog of Camaro 1967 to 2002" or "The Genuine Camaro White Book 1967-1997".
Probably cheaper to just sell the V6 and buy a Z."
Definitely, not probably.
"Go for it though, just don't badge it up as a Z."
If he actually does _everything_ he's entitled.
It would be a bizarre amount of money and time and work.
No offense intended, but I can understand customizing your car. I can understand building a kit car yourself. Having a unique car is a powerful lure. I just can't understand doing all that work to turn your car into a car like one you could buy.

I was going to drop in engine into my 99 v6 camaro, I talked to a couple mechanics and they said it isnt worth the time and money. Just go with selling the car and getting a z28 if possible, thats what I am currently doing.
I dont know about you guys, but I have been on and off this boat for a loooooong time!
i keep on saying...yeah, Im going to install a v8 in my 95 f-body, but then i think...yeah, sell and buy a z28.
now, the pros and cons (according to me!)
pros
V8 enough said....
cons,

lack of donor z28's
INSURANCE-----huge upset in Miami, Florida
Anyone else?!?!
