cold start noise

recently, because it has been cold, i've started to hear a different noise under the hood. i'll double check tomorrow but it looked like might have been coming from the crankshaft. it only does this when it's cold (like 30 or below) and when the engine is not warmed. it dissappears in 4-5 minutes after idle. i've gotten no SES light and everything is performing well. is something wrong?

Re: cold start noise

btw it's not a knocking noise, but more of a rotating or swirling type of sound.

Re: cold start noise

Mine isnt very quiet in general on cold mornings till it warms up, mine definately makes a knocking sound first few seconds then the car starts to quiet down after it's warm.

I dont think their is a car out there that likes cold starts.

Re: cold start noise

hmm well i opened up the air box today to check the air filter and the noise gets louder when i do that. follow the hose to engine and the sound increases. i think i might have a mechanic check it out just in case.
