clutch replacement
clutch replacement
Question for all of you that have done a clutch replacement. I replaced my stock clutch with a SPEC stage II clutch about two months ago. I followed the recommended break-in milage and babied the stupid thing. I've put over 1000 miles on it already and I'm smelling burnt clutch when I get on it pretty hard. Now, before someone says that I'm slipping the clutch......I'll just clarify that fact right now. I'm not slipping the clutch and the clutch itself isn't slipping. At least I don't think it is. My RPM's don't increase and then decrease when I accelerate. I did the "put in gear and heel toe while letting the clutch out" to see if the engine bogs down. It does. I just don't get it why I'm smelling burnt clutch when I burnout. Then to make matters worse, it stinks for like a day afterwards as well. Surely the darn thing is broken in by now. Does anyone have any ideas why I have this problem? Everything was replaced with new parts.....throwout bearing, pilot bushing, clutch, and I resurfaced the flywheel too.
Oh yeah, another thing that really puzzled me. On the side of the tranny, it said to replenish the fluid with Dexron III automatic transmission fluid. Isn't that weird? WTF??????

The smell your incountering COULD be either the front OR rear Brakes. I'm not sure which. If the clutch is'nt slipping, then I would have to guess that's the problem.
As for the tranny fluid, Yes it does use Dexron3, don't try to use anything else or you'll mess some stuff up. Synthetic variations of dexron3 are fine, but not Heavy gear oil ECT...ECT...ECT...
