clogged cat?

I have a 3.8 camaro and it has 41000 miles on it. All of a sudden it seems sluggish around low rpms 1000 to 2500 give or take a
few lol.Im wondering if it might be the cat or exaust problem
because something is rattling pretty da*n bad or could it just be the spark plugs need changing. keep in mind they havent been
changed since i bought the car new. I know they should be
changed every 15,000 miles but I heard that the originals should
last 60,000. my milage isnt to far off but for the life of me I hope its just has to do with the exaust. also the only mod Ive done
is a flowmaster 80 series(not the full cat back)with 31/2 inch tips. thx for any suggestions.

thats because your car is finally saying its a 6.

but changing your plugs wouldnt be a bad idea.

badass, sounds to me like you're cat is on its last breath. I've gone thru 2 cat converters myself on my 6 already thru my car's youth. I'm at 56/57,000 now tho and haven't blown one since, now that I decline to use the 2nd-gear-start feature in wet weather. For some reason that seemed to keep blowing my cat-converter up. *knock on wood*

When it goes, the car acts like a 2 year old having a tantrum when you hit the accelerator and makes one of the worst rattling clanking sounds ever to anyone who loves a car.

Just my guess - sounds to me like that's what you're getting.

on a 2000, a clogged cat would definatly throw a code. even spark plugs when bad enough will throw a code, but a clogged cat most definately. try doing your plugs first to see if that helps, try adding octane booster. just trying to save some money here, but thats what i would try.
good luck.

About the code is not entirely true Nino...I had 400 miles on my car and my catalytic converter shelled out. I had no light or any codes. Maybe because it "shelled" instead of "clogging". If so, I retract my previous statement. I took the car in because it made a horrible ratteling sound when my A/C was on. That's when they put an entire new exhaust on my BRAND NEW car....it's sitting in my garage if anyone wants it by the way. It only has 75 miles on it....
