i saw a few ad's like this on ebay

Oh, I so love these idiots that post that stuff on Ebay. Almost feel sorry of the people who actually bid on them. Almost.

Anyways, all he is selling you is a resistor to put inbetween your IAT (idle air temperature) sensor and the PCM. You can buy the same resistor at Radioshack for like 25 cents. Basically what this does is make your IAT always read 32 degrees F (0 degrees C). All this really does is make the PCM set the parameters for timing and fuel a TINY bit ahead of what it would be if it read the normal temperature of the air (such as 80 degress F or whatever the ambient temp of the air is). You will see NO performance gain at all. I do tuning on OBD1 and have been for quite some time now, if getting an extra 20 HP was something this simple, I wouldn't be able to charge $150 for tuning. It's pretty much this simple. If it sounds too good to be true, IT IS!

Or you could just move it farther away from the motor, close to the air filter for more accurate temp readings. Heat soak is a no, no.
