Depends on the code - some set immediately, some after a couple consecutive cycles with a failure.

I'm not sure that all codes stay resident on a 3.4 when you shut the car off. Can you scan it after the SES has come on without shutting the car off?

the codes stay in the memory untill cleared manually.shutting the car off won't effect the scan.

pull the ecm fuse and leave it out for like 30 sec. then put it back in it should clear everything from the computer. and if there are and problems the ses light will come back on.

You would think so but I have had numerous SES lights triggered by the EGR and had it scanned which came back with nothing. It was only after driving the car with the scanner connected and viewing the live stream that we were able to see the result.

I have seen posts by a few other 3.4 owners who say the same.
