Catback Exhaust

Hey guys I have an 02 V6 totally stock. I'm looking for a cat-back system for my ride, and was wondering what everyone's opinions are on the different systems out there. I used to have a flowmaster cat-back on my Dodge Ram and loved it, but am not too familiar with what to use on a Camaro. Any help would be appreciated. Future mods by the way will be CAI,Ram Air, Power Programmer, etc.

hey buddy, I also have an 02 v6, I have a borla full catback exhaust, It sounds very good at low rpms, and gets worse as it goes up. but none the less, it is very loud and deep sounding for a 6banger... people always ask me at school and stuff, yO, thats a Z right, and Im like naw, and they're like wow, it sure sounds like a beefed up one.

I also like the look of the borla when it comes with the tips.

I just got the Flowmaster American thunder from summit, I've had it on for 4 days and its still getting burnt in, i think it sounds great. It doesn't sound like a V8 or anything but its nice and mellow and mine is still getting better. it was worth the money to me. The tips are polished aluminum slash cut, ther a little small , about 2.75" dia but they look good from the side and they fit nice. the engine exhaust better, you can tell there's less back pressure because the car will return to idel much faster. The only thing i don't like about it that they left about 4" of clearence from the gas tank for thermal reasons and you can see the muffler from the back and it doesn't sit perfectly level like. so it doesn't look as nice as a borla but its cool.

I posted it in an other topic below but here it is again...

There are quite a lot of options you can go with.

1. Flowmaster 80 series muffler 17357 or 17358 on a 3.8L 1997+

(comes with dual exhaust tips, 3" chromes.. i run this on my car, and it sounds great throughout the RPM range. pictures can be viewed at http://www.v6firefury.com/exhaust/

*This exhaust will make your car sound like a V8 to the untrained ear/eye. However, people said that on the 3.8L they become ricey at high rpms...

2. SLP Loudmouth - by far the loudest exhaust you can get on your car! This is sometimes too loud...

3. RK Sport 93-00 V6 Rear Exhaust Section W/Oval Tips
Part # RK01096407 - $273.99 at fasttoys.net

4. Borla B&B Cat Back (MOST EXPENSIVE!)

5. Magnaflow 98-02 3.8L V6 Camaro/Firebird System
Part #: MAG15693 - $379.99 (at fasttoys.net)

Hope this info helps...

I have been looking into a Borla cat back system, but don't know if I want to spend that much $$$ on it. My friend has an American Thunder System on him V6 but it sounds too weak to me. This muffler shop once told me that the tips can have some affect on the sound. Is it true?

I read one guy's post earlier saying his car didn't pass inspection with the SLP Loudmouth. My car is registered in a rural area in Texas so anything will pass inspection here. I am curious as to how loud the Loudmouth really is?

You guys need to check out Ebay. There are always people selling used, already broken in exhaust systems for dirt cheap. Someone is selling a Borla rear exhaust as we speak. The highest bid is at around 90, so somebody better outbid that guy!

Not really except for exhaust systems. You might catch something every now and then for a V6. You gotta stay on it.

I wouldnt say the Amercan thunder sounds weak, but droned out.
But my vote is for the Magnaflow, got them on both my cars. And ricey for the top end I wouldnt say that either.Mouthy is the way I'd descibe it. Thats what you get from straight thru designs performance/WOT mouthy rasp thats the sound of performance even Loudmouth(they have a v6 system?)
T.

Edit; Oh yeah sounds tough as hell on my Z at WOT

To my knowledge the Loudmouth is a V8 system but can be modded to fit a V6 . Do you know where i can get a Magnaflow System?
