I have a 1994 Camaro V6 and I rides like a wagon. Im getting new tires soon and hoping this will help. The shocks look original. The car has 99,000 miles on it. What can I do to make a smoother ride?

 

It rides like a wagon, and you want to make it smoother? Do you mean a station wagon? Or do you mean like a covered wagon from the 19th century?

I'm going to assume that you meant that it rides like a station wagon and you want to rein it in a little, and tell you that a set of lowering springs and stiffer shocks to replace your old and worn ones are probably what you're looking for. There are lots of options.

If I'm making the wrong assumption, and in fact it rides really harsh and you want something smoother, you should probably start out with something other than a 13-year-old performance car. F-bodies are stiffly suspended cars -- that's just how it is.

 

Just picked up a 96 RS 3.8 w/ 100k mi for my son and noticed suspension issues. Kinda steered more like a boat than a wagon (unless it was a one of those little red Red Flyer types) Replaced a bad Ft wheel bearing, shocks have been replaced, bushings and ball joints seem fairly sound. New wheels, tires and alignment are next. If that doesn't correct, then we're looking at total front end rebuild.

 

What is the current tire size and rating?

New shocks > 16 year old shocks.
