All I know is I took my car up to the dealer and told them that there was crap in the antifreeze. They fixed it and told me if I remember correctly that it was a leaky intake gasket... I have no idea if that is what it said for sure. But I still have the reciept from the repair with the problem printed out on it. So I will find it later and post again to let you kow what the exact diagnosis was. But everything that everyone in here has posted about sounds like what I had. And when I showed the dealer they claimed it was a problem. Now that they fixed it my coolant is clean!

 

cool, i was concerned about the head gasket going... but that obviously wasn't your problem, i just dont know what an 'intake' gasket is...

however, if you could find out that reciept and tell the world what the problem was, and possibly what the remedy was, i'd/we'd greatly appreciate it...

My daughter was just given a 1996 Camero rs convertible and has the same problem. She was told it it was the intake gasket. Is this a common problem with the V6? The cooling system has been flushed twice and there is still goo showing up in the coolant. I'm thinking the mechanic didn't fix the problem. There doesn't seem to be coolant in the oil so I don't think it's the head. Any ideas?
