Borla muffilers?

I have had my car almost a year and it still has the stock single Muffiler that is on every V6, I bought a TA muffiler for it but something didnt work out and I decided to scrap that idea, (even though it would of looked cool)
I looked at the flowmasters and wasnt impressed, In North NJ, the amount of road salt they put on the roads eats out a muffiler in about two years so I decided to go Borla full cat back,
I have goten quite a few different quotes, Autoparts store $850 (yay right) RKsport $750, and a few others but the best I found was at summitracing.com for $630, does that sound right? or is there a better one out there?
I am going to wate till spring since my it is now cold and crappy out and I dont feel like messing with the car in 30* weather but a few questions I have are
1 Can I do this myself with out a welder?
2 what size is the pipe on there cat back ajustible system for the 3.8? will it match up with the clamp on the half pipe?

3 will it sound good on a 3.8? I know the 3.4's sound better.
any one with one on there 3.8 please tell me about it.

If i am not mistaken the borla cat back fits over the axle cause its a two peice assembly fits over the axle. if you get just a borla muffler weldind will be needed for a clean install due to a much smaller case.

$630 is about the best price you will find..It is part #14813 for your vehicle.it sounds good on the 3.8 as I have it on mine.it is a bolt on assembly and you will not have any problems with the install of you get the vehicle up on stands..good luck

I wouldn't spend that much on one. I was lucky enough that my friend found one for dirt cheap and told me.

With the difference between the Borla and any other system, you could get some other cool stuff like an intake or gears.

If I were you, I would get the borla cat-back. I have it on my car and it sounds badass. Plus, I think it has the best looking tips on the market and the million-mile warrenty to boot. Like I said, you can't go wrong with this system. I get compliments all the time. Go for it. And $630 is not a bad price at all for a cat-back system. Just make sure it is Borla part # 14813 like mentioned above.

Yeah I agree. Go for it man, its worth it. Ive actually had people ask me if i have a V8. It sounds pretty damn good when you throw some low revs.

OK Rob, don't want to let you down so here it is:

Shut up! You don't know what you are talking about! The 3.8 sounds SSSOOOOO good. I have Flowmaster(S) on my CamEro and everyone thinks its a v8!

LOL. Something like that is what I would expect.

Seriously though, I agree. The 3.4 does sound better than the 3.8, I'll give it that. I did hear one 3.8 that sounded decent though. He had some headers and an american thunder catback. Didn't sound too bad but the majority of the V6ers in my area only throw on a Flowmaster muffler and rev the crap out of them.

Thanks for all who replied, I decided that I cant wate till spring so I got my one friend who has a heated garage to give me a hand and we will do this over winter brake besides he installed a borla on a V6 before so he knows how it is done.

I had the 3" Borla cat-back with RKsport headers on my 2000 3.8L Camaro. Sounded good in the lower rpms(fairly deep) but no so good up top. The fit and finish was great along with the looks. Personally, it only sounded good(even with the headers) if you run the full-block off plate. It will be kinda quiet this way but actually has a good tone to it for a V6. However guys, there is no mistaking it for a V8.
