Bleeding Brake System for Bird with Traction Control
My 2000 V6 Firebird needs brake rotors and pads replaced. I figured
I should also change the fluids since it has been almost 3 years.
So I looked at the Haynes Manual which states, "Do not attempt this procedure if your vehicle is equipped with the Traction Control System (TCS), as the brake system cannot be bled without the use of a Tech-1 or T-100 (CAMS) scan tool. Have the following procedure performed at a dealer service department or other qualified repair shop equipped with this special tool."
Well my V6 has Traction Control.
Can someone tell me what the above statement means? Do I have to take my car to stealership or Indy for a simple process like bleeding brakes? Or is there a way to do it myself?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

So are you guys saying:
1. It's okay to bleed on your own without the scan tool. This won't damage anything.
2. Only drawback is that I won't be able to completely bleed the system due to traction control/ABS.
Does that sound about right?
Has anyone actually bled the brakes with bird/camaro with traction control?

Yes its ok to bleed w/o the scan tool,I've got TC and changed pads 3 times last year & two complete system flushes by bleeding the calipers w/o tool and have perfect braking. Do the normal fashion of bleeding if you've ever done it.
I might say that whoever it is pushing the pedal for you DOES NOT have to push on the pedal extremely hard(not good) just enough to pump it up and nice steady pressure.
I THINK the tool is to reset the system after some overhaul work.
