Best sounding exhaust for a v6?

Whatsup guys. Probably going to be upgrading exhaust on my v6 camaro here real soon and i was curious on what was the best performing exhaust and best sounding exhaust systems u guys have seen/owned. i was originally gonna go with a flowmaster 80 series catback system but alot of people here and on ls1.com said that it sounds really ricey above 3 grand. obviously since this is a 6 its not gonna replicate the v8 rumble but is there a good exhaust system and/or muffler that gives good performance and decent sound? i figured i would get opinions from the expert panel first before shopping around . thanks.

probably around 100 dollars. i was thinking 80 series flowmaster and a trip to the exhaust shop to get the pipes and everything all hooked up. people with flows, how do u like them as i said before i have heard they sound ricey above 3 grand yet some say they are very good.

Killerjello hit this one right on. Just about every cat back for a v6 sounds like a v6 with an exhaust. A WS6 takeoff is the closest to a V8 rumble your gonna get. Its less restircitve than the stock 6 exhaust, however you need some restriction to bring the tone down to make up for the 2 missing cylanders. Its the only way to go.

I agree, i am very satisfied with the american thuder catback, it will cost you $285 for the kit and about $130 to install but it's a complete system if you just get a muffler the takeoff is probably best but it won't sound half as good a an Amerian Thunder catback, I've had mine for 3 months and it's finaly filling out and sounding deep and mellow, the Lid modifiations and K&N filter helped the sound and flow a lot. I say it's worth the extra $200 to get the complete system rather than spend just $200 and be disatisfied.

Another note: i painted my muffler black because itsits rather low and i ended up getting stock z28 tips because i ddn' like the slash tips from the rear.

but the system has not ratteled once and it's prettygood quality.

also the cat-back system has a intermediate sound chamber that cancels the rice sound over 3000, it works pretty well.

I've heard a borla but nothing else and it sounded nice but i think the flowmaseter sounds a little better, the borla does look and fit much nicer and they have a lifetime corrosion warrenty.

The Borla sounds less impressive, because it is all about wide open flow for max power gains. the 80 series flowmaster is more resrictive. Its also aluminized and not T-304 Stainless.

geee wiz guys, why are you not thinking Flowmaster all the way here, that rumble when you let off the gas and the pressure equalizes is so awesome and the roar at lower rpm's sounds great, its nothing special at higher rpm's yes but think about this when are you going to use it? just sitting there at the stop like to impress that civic owner, insteed sound good all the time!

Go Flowmaster I got the 80 series and I love every rumble of it!

Like I said before, spend the extra $200 and get the whole system, i don't know what just a muffler sounds like but people say it's not very good,

Also keep in mind that the system will take about 2000 miles of driving to sound it's best. but it really does sound good a with the lid and filter, it has a nice roar though 2000 - 4000 rpm

This is gonna be a long thread. Flowmaster is the best bang for the buck. Borla is a waste of money for a V6.
