Auto to Manual Conversion? Has it been done? How much?

I have a 93 3.4 auto and I just rolled over 150,000. I notice a little transmision slip every now and then when its shifting at low rpms on the highway. I am starting to think about next year and was wondering if I need a transmision, should I go with the five speed Ive always wanted? How much does one cost? Would a place like speedautomotive.com be the place to go? What all is involved witht the pedals/shift ***? The *** should line up, but what about the pedal? Does a hole need to be cut anywhere? How does that all work? Thanks, John.

ya speedautomotive knows what u will need....im about to swap my 3.4 to an Lt1 with a 6 speed come spring...

basically ur going to need a full clutchkit which will require u to do some cutting...it realy isnt too bad and the swap can be done in a couple of hours if u know what u are doing. to make it even easier when u pull the carpeting up ive been told theres almost a templete where the clutch should go...

hope that helps
if u need more instructions do a search for a4 to m5 conversion...theres a few very detailed web sites out there which even include pictures and what tools are needed.

Well in my 6 speed to Th400 swap I had to do some things that would be similiar to what you are wanting to do.......just in reverse...

You will probably have to get a different crossmember or do some investigating to see if the one you have will work. Then there is cutting a hole for the hydralic master cylinder....at least that is what my Z had in it......I am not up to par on the V6 trannies ...... Then you will have to cut out an area on your driveshaft tunnel so your shifter can come through and find a M5 rubber cover to go over the hole.....or if you like I still have my M6 cover that I could send you for 10 bucks. Other then that it is straight forward.

Oh yeah also neutral safety switch.....you will have to by-pass that or find another way to hook it up.

P.S. the Manual clutch pedal ***'y should just bolt right up in your car.

P.S.S. The reverse lights might night work unless your trace down the right wires and then splice into current wiring.
