Re: Anyone got a cam'd 3.4?

I friend of mine has his 3.4 camed he put some kind of cat back on it, don't remember what brand is was but I don't like the way it sounds. I think he should have went with a flowmaster 80 serires inseatd of the cat back. But he also needs to tune it ever since he camed it the car runs like ****. I think I have a clip of his car after the cam but can't remember where its at. Let me look around and I'll see if I can find it.

I've always wondered as well if they sound lopey like V8s do haha, I don't think I've ever heard a nasty cammed V6.

I have never heard a cammed 3.4L in person... but cammed 3.8Ls they can be nice a lopey...

I'd assume the 3.4L woould sound better. Just to warn you about doing a cam in a 3.4L if you need to tune it there isn't really anywone that will tune it.

I have a friend with a cammed 3.4L with a catback and no cats. I don't know the cam specs. Not to lopey, but it sounds pretty good. He's a member here, but I don't think he reads the forums much. I'll see if he has a sound clip...

Jake is right, I do have a cammed 3.4 (and it's for sale if anyone is interested). I don't, however, have a sound clip. I'll see if I can obtain one, but take my word for it (and I'm sure Jake will back me up), it sounds good - not too lopey, but that will change a lot depending on the cam specs - mine is very mild. I'll dig up the specs when I get home from work ... if I remember.

I liked it. I almost bought it! Then I got the Z28 itch and couldn't help myself.

It has a nice snarl when you start it up, and sounds great as the revs climb. It's loud, but no resonance or drone cruising on the highway.

Did you get it dyno/tuned? I probably won't put a cam in it, but it's always a option.
(Most likely I'll sell it for a M6 LT1 Z next year)
