Post Anyone else done the free "ram air" scoop

http://www.charm.net/~mchaney/ramair/ramair.htm
made that yesterday, came out pretty nice, and very easy to do. I was just wondering if anyone else has done it, because i'm not sure if it's just me or not. But it feels like after about 50mph, it gains speed a pretty good bit quicker. I didn't expect it to really do anything, was just bored.

I made it but I'm still deciding if I want to put it on, b/c of all the dirt, rocks, and rain that would get sucked up in there. If you could check the "air box" and see if there are rocks or whatever in there. Thanks

Ya, I was thinking about something like a window screen b/c of its small holes it might block most dirt and still might block most rain. I also was trying to somehow make it able to push back up in there(kinda like on a salt refiller, or on the dishwashing detergent box), and have some sort of locking device. Also can I clean my SLP filters?

I am more worried about snagging it on a bumper curb.

I took off the entire bottom piece, not really much of a scoop but the air around the filter is "refreshed"

I'm not saying this thing is good or bad, because it is a good concept for more air, but the air it sucks in is possibly going to be hot air. Even at 35+ mph wind that is 100+ degrees isn't going to do you any good. Think about it, the air temp. a foot off of the pavement is probably comparable to the air temp inside the engine bay after 30 minutes of driving...hot air=less power. (Of course, in regions where the road temp. is considerably cooler, this doesn't apply)Just a thought...
