Post Aluminum Driveshaft

I've been told that my 02 has a one piece steel driveshaft. Is it worth getting an aluminum one piece?

I've heard that it is worth going from a two piece steel to a one piece aluminum, but I want to know if it's worth going from a one piece steel to a one piece aluminum.

I think it would take off about 50 pounds.

50 pounds? Way off...

Stock 2-piece steel is 25 lbs...stock 1-piece steel is 22 lbs...

I think the aluminum one piece is 10 lbs...

25-10= 15 lbs
22-10= 12 lbs

HAH...50 pounds.

Yeah, go ahead and look under her skirt.
She won't mind...

If you can get an aluminum piece cheap, I say go for it. Basically, anything is better than the two piece steel...

Yes, it is. Less parasitic drivetrain loss through an aluminum DS because it's lighter and transmits power easier. Its a pretty minute difference, but on V6es we take anything we can get. Basically it just frees up HP/TQ, obviously it doesn't add any. It is something along the line of 10 lbs reduction, but remember it is in the drivetrain not just anywhere on the car.

A lighter DS should make the car feel a lil more torquey *if thats a word * Less rotating mass / weight = good.

I'm pretty sure the later model 4th Gen's came with a single piece D/S. I replaced my 2 piece w/ a 1 piece out of a '97 Z and felt a slight difference just with it. Nothing to really get all antsy about but like another guy said... every little bit helps, right?
