Alternator for a 3.4 help!!
Alternator for a 3.4 help!!
I want to upgrade my stock alternator to help with my HID conversion and loud stereo system. I seen a 200 amp alternator for $159 bucks on ebay but it says LT1....it diesnt say v6 but it doesn't say it wouldn't work. The guy didnt know when i wrote him. Would it work with my motor? if not where could i get a stronger alternator?
Re: Alternator for a 3.4 help!!
According to car-part.com, the 3.4L alternator is different from the 2 v8 alts. which came in 124 and 140 amps from the factory.
If you are creative with fabbing mounting for the v8 alternator, you could get it on a v6, but if not, find an alternator shop and have them wind you up a 200 amp alternator for the 3.4L.

he makes high output alt. for nearly any car on the road. But if you are serius about upgrading your alt. you need to first up grade the wiering or you won't be getting the full effects of it. Get some thick 1 or 0/1 guage speaker wire from an audio shop and have some connectors put on each end and do the big 3 upgrade. Go from the alt post to the bat. pos., body to bat. neg., and engine to body.
