air lid

in the 3.8l airlid, there are all of those ridges at the top, can i just grind those off for a lil better flow instead of paying 100 bucks for a whisper lid. is there a way to make a cold air system for pretty cheap........if this sounds totally retarded.........sorry

actually yes you can. gride it down then get some pcv pipe and couplings and your set with the lid. on the CAI, you can make your own. just got to be creative. i have a very good write up on how to make you own ram air induction for 98+. total with parts would put you about 20-30 dollars. i got it from somebody, sorry i dont know who though and i forgot the link, i just have it saved on my hard drive. i can email if you like

Heres the link I think he is talking about. I wouldn't do it, well I wouldn't do it again if I had the chance. I did it on the V6 and unnoticable horsepower gains are not worth getting the air filter amazingly dirty.
