im looking to buy a 93 to 97 camaro. I want a V6 for insurance and economy purposes (I already have a gas guzzlin toy w/ a v8).
Ive found a few, but most of them seem to have pretty high mileage. Specifically, theres a 95 that has 106,000 miles on it.
How long can I expect an engine with such high mileage to last until it starts givin me problems?
What are some well known problem areas with these cars that I should be on the look out for?

3.4s are extremely reliable, even through the hell I put mine through I never had any problems with it. I know alot of people that run this motor and have not had any problems. Its a solid reliable motor.
The 3.8 is also reliable but go try to find parts to tear into one if you ever need to, it will cost you 4 times as much for everything even gaskets are extremely expensive, not to mention its weird lol. a 3.4 has alot in comoon with a small block wich makes it easy aand cheap to work on.
can't go wrong if all u need is a nice daily driver.

I think if you take care of the car and do the regular maint. on them, the 4th gen Camaro is one reliable @$$ car!
One problem though is the rear seal which will leak sooner or later...mine leaked but luckily I had it fixed while still under warranty. Check and see how the car shifts, take it over some bumps and see how she feels.
I know for some cars 100,000+ miles means
, but not ours. You won't have to worry about the engine...I think the tranny will fail long before the engine gives you trouble.

Yup, rear main seal...didn't know there were any other rear seals.
Oh well, should have been more clear. Really small leak...wouldn't have caught it if I didn't put down some cardboard in the garage.

I have to beg the differ in defense for the 3.4L. My 3.4L ( yr95) has about 98,000, I've replaced freeze plugs (on warranty) and that oil sensor ($38.00) thats it. I only use AC Delco parts too, I don't know if that's a factor, but my 3.4L has been petty reliable so far, it's been to Texas (1400 miles) three times.
my brother has a a 94 3.4 for 5 years and has Never had an issue I really mean nothing and he doesnt maintain the car for crap and still no problems. Well except for now his cat or piping is rattling pretty bad but other than that nothing...besides the power windows dont work. But maybe GM made the car on a tuesday or wed.

Thats my personal experience...not to metiton that he has 180k as well

so i guess the tribe has spoken.
im finding out today if the loan goes through. if it does, im gonna go over the car myself with a fine toothed comb and then taking it to a shop i trust so they can look at it too.

how much would any of you guys pay for a 95 3.8 with 86k, new paint and fairly new yokohamas, very clean. I'm planning to sell it, is $6500 a little to much?

I just sold my 94 Z28 with custom painted stripes, lots of bolt ons, chrome wheels, a decent stereo system and 70K for $6800
You might find someone to pay that much for your 95 but if u need the money and someone gives u a decent deal dont hold out forever....try asking 6K-6500 and be negotiable, this way the person thinks theyre getting a deal when they pay 57-5800
to anyone who may think im unscrupulous....well a car is worth whatever ur willing to pay for it right???
