Question Acceleration Problem: Please Help!

Please help

I have a 1995 - 3.4 Camaro and am having some trouble figuring out my problem. A few days a go this problem started where I would occasionally not be able to accelerate. I would step on the gas pedal and the rpm's would go down slightly and the engine would feel like it was choking. When I released the gas pedal the rpm's would go up. This would keep occuring and I could not rev the engine for the next thirty seconds or so, and then back to normal.

I changed spark plug wires....seemed to run fine, but after about half an hour same problem...seems to occur less often, but is still occuring.

I think it might be coil packs or something, but I don't want to be replacing unneccessary parts...maybe control module for coil packs???

how many miles on it bud??... I had a clogged cat and my 02 sensors went bad and had a hell of a time getting my baby to go. They went out at 100k.. now she is back where she should be haha (still slow) So check those out the 02's ran me a wopping 40 bucks for both, so not that bad to replace anyways if you where geting bad gas mileage.. cat is about 100...

if it takes half an hour before the problem arises, I suspect it might be something heat induced. That is very vague, but a start. The car performs perfectly when it is cold? Can you check and be certain that under no circumstances that the car will give you problems when the engine is cool?

If this is the case, heat is most likely the problem. It could be the ignition is getting tired and not responding well to the heat. It could be engine overheating even...are the gauges where they belong when this happens? It could be a clogged cat or bad O2. It could be plugs. It may even be the transmission. Check all your fluids, make sure there are no abnormalities.

Good luck, and if you can narrow things down a bit we can really help you pinpoint the problem!

I have 110 miles and I replaced the two O2 sensors up front not too long ago, aswell as the plugs....I went to a mechanic and he did a diagnostic for me and said that it runs perfectly. He suggested using some fuel injector cleaner and watching the cat.

Is there a good way to tell if the cat is bad???...maybe just see if it's red after driving for a long time????

The car used to have the problem even when the engine was cold, now after changing the spark plug wires it only has the problem on occasion.....I don't know if this is a coincidence or what??

Engine temp is always fine and all other guages are also always fine.

Thank You very much for the quick response.

go to a muffler shop to get the cat tested ( most of the time it is free) you can also have the control module tested at auto zone but make sure they test it at least 3 - 4 times to get it warm.. coil packs you can test yer self but only for resistance... other than that like josh said it can be a lot of things just narrow them down
