Have any of you guys taken on the new RX-8?
I know its a 50/50 car at 3800 lbs but with 238HP and 159Ft-lbs, how do the 3.8's size up to it? A buddy of mine has one and i want to catch him off guard.

Re: ? about taking on a RX-8
RX-8 weighs 2950 lbs and runs about 14.5 @ 96 in the quarter mile. You don't have a sig that tells me about your car and if you have any mods, but if you're stock, I give him the win.
Don't you guys know about Google?
A buddy of mine bought an RX-8 last week. I got to drive it on Monday. Quick little thing, especially in 1st gear, but it has nothing on my LS1.

My bad, curb weight i found on the mazda website to be 3029lbs. I have a stock V6 3.8 (98 camaro). I guess i was seeing what mods i would have to do to beat him. This is my daily driver car so nothing outragous will be done to it.
I was thinking exhaust, jet chip, cold induction to start.

Intake, exhaust and gears are all you will need. They are alot slower than people claim. Race from a dig for sure
They are all about top end power (hence the 9000rpm redline).
P.S. Don't bother with a jet chip

Re: ? about taking on a RX-8
is the rx8, automatic or stick?
sticks have a 9,000rpm redline, autos are at ~7,800. autos are peppy but not too spectacular, the sticks are alot quicker (even rated at like 35hp more then the autos) WOT you dont feel the power setting you back in the seat til about 4500rpm and even then, its barely
power too weight tho, i give it too the RX8 unless you have motor mods. cam/rockers and bolt ons

yea the rotary will analy violate even a heavy bolton camaro v6. Camaros are heavy as it is cut the horsepower by 2/3 and you need some major engine work. Camaro/mustang V6's arnt very good for racing, I dont know why people buy them and intend to race w/ a v6. That is unless you do serious engine work or run it on juice until it blows up.
