Is the SES light on? Any smoke out the exhaust pipes?

Best thing to do is take it to Autozone or Advanced Auto, Get it scanned, WRITE DOWN THE CODE NUMBER, and bring it back to us so we can further assist you...

Tuneup time, change the coil packs, spark plugs, wires... That should fix it... Also just as standard maintanence, I would go about replacing the Air and Fuel Filter aswell as both the PCV and EGR Valves...

Re: 97 camaro v6 running problems

If you're still on the stock plug wires, replace them. GM actually extended the warranty on the 3.8 V6 stock plug wires to 7 years/70K miles because of the miss problem. I had a '96 V6 that developed a miss and GM covered it....but of course you're already past the 7 years, so it's your bill.

I actually got my refund AFTER I had already sold my '96 V6 and had bought my '98 Z28 back in '98. I still had the receipt from where I had the plug wires replaced at my local Chevy dealer and I called GM's Customer Service. I had to send in a copy of the receipt, but the plug wires were warranted on the 3.8 F-Bodies made form '95 - '99 for 7 years/70K miles. GM cut me a check.

Do a search and see if you can find the campaign number on this forum. I posted this several years ago, so it may still be here.

Glad you like my ride. I've had my LS6 in for almost 2 years now and I've only managed to put around 3500 miles on it since the swap. It sits in the garage most of the time now

Had a daughter but had to get an SUV as my daily driver

...even I chuckle when I see a baby seat in the back of an F-Body

Seriously, I tried to get one in there, and when I saw that the only way it was physically going to even get back there was to take the front seat out, install the baby seat, and then bolt the front seat back down again, I figured that maybe it wasn't a good idea anyway...that, and my wife said there's no way my child can ride with me in my Z...EVER
