'95 V-6 w/5-speed to T-56?
A buddy just picked up a '95(?) V-6 Firebird but the 5-speed took a crap. He was pricing the parts for the 5-speed, and they are pretty salty...would a T-56 6-speed go in it's place? And if "yes", what additional pieces/mods are we gonna need?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I know they use different bellhousings. The main point though is that a 3.4 does not make close to enough torque or hp to make the extra gear necessary. Are you having reliability problems with your T5, or why do you want to swap trans?

this subjext is being attended to right now by a few people on this board. so we will kee everyone informed about it when it is completed and running. you will need a really tall rear gear in a stock 3.4 to be able to have 6th gear usable.

If you ran a minimum of 4.11 gears, then you should be able to eek by with using the .50 sixth gear.
Swapping to a T-56 also means that you will be sacrificing that ultimate launching ability of first gear. Your T-5 has a 3.75 first gear ratio, compared to the automatics' and usually sought after 3.06 first gear. The T-56 is all the way up at a 2.66 ratio. So you'll be a dog off the line. But I believe 3.08x3.75 is about the same as 4.11x2.66 so it may be roughly the same.
