94 v6 to v8 i know i know search but please help
i might be picking up a 94 v6 camaro and i want to put a v8 in it im probably going to go carb blow though with a procharger or a turbo kit. going to be a strip street car. no cage. what all has to be done to put a v8 in? engine mounts? k member? trans? probably go with 350 or 400, if i cant use the one thats in it. not sure if the 94 is a stick or auto.
i thank you all for your time the faster the response the better i want to go get the car with in a day. but i want to make sure that swaping in a 350 based engine isn't going to be a nightmare. what would i need to keep the computer to run a lt1 or ls1 engine? is there good tuning available for a 94? or whould i swap in a new computer? want to be boosted..
thanks again. dan.
ps if this in the wrong spot sorry i will learn more im a dodge guy going to make the swap to the chevy side.

to swap any v8 into that car, you will need a v8 k-member yes. Trans is different as well. bellhousing is smaller and shaped different. You will need a computer to run an LT1 or LS1, unless you go with a carbed intake and mount your own distributor. Not sure if you can put a regular distributor in an LS1 block. I dont think anybodys made a cam with the gear or anything like that. Im just getting into the LS1 scene myself and am keeping it fuel injected etc... If your going LT1 or regular sbc, you'll need a v8 k-member from 93-97, LS1 will be 98-02.
If you have not purchased the engine itself try and find one from the same year as the car. This will simplify a lot of the wiring. Believe me. I purchased a 96 and swapped in a 94 obdI engine in and the wiring was a pain. A lot of guys will pick up parts car and just swap everything over. The rear end on a v6 car will be most likely be 2.73's and the springs all around are weaker so you'll need those. It's a lot of work and if I had to do it again I would have just bought a z28 with a blown engine. I learned later that the v6 to insure was only a couple of dollars less then my z28. '94 PCM's can be flashed for whatever your set up is unless your making big HP.

thanks for the fast response. I'm thinking about taking all the wiring out for engine control. and run a carb. if i get a v8 k member can i use a old 350? will it bolt up to the k member? and if the 94 computer has a limit on tunning Ive already had my fair share of tunning restrictions on a 94 dodge. so i want to go carbed.
