94 retiming

Does anyone have an idea the cost to have my motor retimed at a repair shop?

Re: 94 retiming

The only way you could do that is if you misaligned the timing chain, or somehow installed the crank and/or cam position sensor incorrectly. Are you sure you have the spark plug wires installed on the correct coil/cylinders? Valve lash set correctly?

Re: 94 retiming

When i replaced the gaskets i took the heads apart to clean them up and mistightened to rocker arm nuts. i need to get them properly tightened and would rather a pro do it than continuing to adjust them myself and possibly making the problem worse

Re: 94 retiming

Then it's not a valve timing problem, it's an adjustment problem. I suspect a shop would charge you 2 hours of labor to adjust them..... $150 - 200 depending on you local rates. Maybe less than 2 hours if they are honest.
