Angry 94 Camaro 3.4L VS 1990 Honda CRX SI

This guy at school wants to race but i was just wondering if there was any chance of me beating him I know he'll probably win right?
(he is manual trans) (I'm automatic trans)
what kind of mods would I need?

Other guys that wanna race:
95 Dodge Neon (Manual)
94 Acura integra (Manual)
90 Mitsubishi eclipse stock turbo (manual)
99 Eclipse (manual)
92 Honda Accord Manual
Bunch of ricers!!!!!! think I can beat any of them they are all stock

all i have to say is ... better turn your bottle on

i got smoked by a similar CRX, although the guy that was racing it was the best driver ive ever seen in my life, provided the other cars can shift well also they will probably all take you if you are stock or near stock

i would think that you could beat the CRX... actually probably all of them except the turbo eclipse. just make sure you know how to launch your car without any tire spin. well, how long of a race is this gonna be? they might come back on you in the 1/4 mile but i think you could pull them off of the line and probably through the 1/8.

try when you let off the brakes, just hit it about half throttle then "slowly" push it to the floor. the harder you can hit it initially then "roll it down" the rest of the way, the better off you are. say, if you hit it to about 3/4 throttle and it spins a little, next time don't push it quite so far right off the line. see what i'm sayin? ...the quicker you get it to the floor without spinning the tires, the better you'll do. you can't always just put it straight to the floor.

95 Dodge Neon (Manual) = maybe,
94 Acura integra (Manual) = depends on driver
90 Mitsubishi eclipse stock turbo (manual) = don't bother, he'll smoke you
99 Eclipse (manual) = depends on driver
92 Honda Accord Manual = easy, maybe

You don't sound too sure of yourself. In one sentence, you think you'll lose. In the next, you think you can beat them all. And you aren't sure how to launch which may be the decision maker with many of those manual cars.

Do yourself a favor and keep quiet until you are sure of yourself and your driving abilities. Practice your launches until you are comfortable. You didn't list any mods you may have either...

There is nothing worse than someone talking a lot and then getting beat.

Don't be so quick to discount other cars either. Many "ricers" can still rip sh#t up if modded enough. You're a heavy 160hp while they are lighter 120-140hp...so it might depend on the driver, car shape, mods.

Re: 94 Camaro 3.4L VS 1990 Honda CRX SI

i'll tell my perspective from my old 95 3.4L, CAI, flowmaster catback, 5 speed:

95 Dodge Neon (Manual)
u should win... i raced a friend in a newer "sport" model neon, he was auto.. closer than i though, but still beat him by 2 lengths

94 Acura integra (Manual)
they're light, but still 16 sec cars, u should win

90 Mitsubishi eclipse stock turbo (manual)
sorry, no, u'll lose, they're 14-15 sec cars, if i'm not mistaken

99 Eclipse (manual)
i wouldn't put money on it... its a lot newer, only 4 cyl, yes, but lighter, newer, manual...

92 Honda Accord Manual
u should win, heavier than the integra, older...

only race if the ppl ur racing are nice about it... the amount of times i've had co(ksmokers think they're all that and a can of worms 'cuz they 'beat a camaro' is amazing (i dont even race, so i dunno where they get that idea from.... racing is stupid, to me... remember, 'to me' u can all do as u please (safely))

yeah, go out, have fun, safely... learn how to launch, come back and tell us

also, u may want to look at the 'kills' section of camarov6.com, they have lots of stories there that might help you out

for a 160hp v6, the 3.4 isnt too bad off the line, given that you can do a good start-off. But like was said, dont plan on going out there and kickn a$$. those lil matchbox cars can get to moving in a 1/4+ compared to my 3.4 that is.
The only 4cyl i have raced was a standard 99 sunfire, from one stop light to the other. I got him good on the green and pulled from there, but that was only about 1 block. Just dont underestimate them i guess is what im saying. And like what was said, if he is being a d|ck about it, then dont race him. Good luck!

a modded 3.8L makes a tad bit more power than a stock 3.4L

Re: 94 Camaro 3.4L VS 1990 Honda CRX SI

just watch out for the sleeper civic's.some are insane and smoke my formula and camaros like nothing.the funny thing is we need 400hp to keep up with thier 190 to 250hp to the wheels.so i crossed over and traded my formula for a built civic hatch.and my god its so much faster and i havent even added my nitrous yet i traded 1 hour ago.knock the rice burners if you must but i gotta tell you some of these guys are not ricers and know thier stuff. i think everyone on here needs to drive a built import at some point.
