4L60(700R4) won't shift!

I just installed a custom shift kit, 2 nuts and 1 washer on the 1-2 accumulator, and now the tranny wony shift at all unless you almost floor it and get to 4500-5000 RPMs. I also changed the ATF and put some Trans-X in there. It's not low on fluid. What's wrong?

PS. It started shifting today. Has a really firm 1-2 shift, but I still don't know what was wrong.

I think your tranny is on its way out.

My 4L60E in my 95 Trans Am did the same thing except when I let off the gas for the 1-2 shift then it would shift. Week later I replaced the tranny.

OK........Is your car still having this problem?

My instance........Car ran fine and shifted in to all other gears ok. One day I was driving home and I tried to take off at a stop light. * BAM * then it happened. The car revved up to 5000 or 6000 and barley wanted to take off. My clutches inside were gone. I put it in reverse and it went backwards just fine

See when the tranny starts revving that high and then catches the next gear that is wear and tear on your clutches just like in a manual car. Your tranny is a 93 right?????? I would say it is almost time to go out. just one of those things.

OR try this......Take out your shift kit mod and then see if it still does it. If not then I would save up for the PROPER shift kit. I always prefer tried and true products over custom stuff any day.

I am just thinking out loud on your case. Relating your instances to mine. That is just what it sounds like to me.

BTW Did you know putting brand new tranny fluid in your tranny isn't always the best thing to do. It could make your tranny wear quicker then before with the old stuff in it. Just stuff to think about.
