3800 SC to 4l60E
3800 SC to 4l60E
I have a line on a 3800 SC motor out of a 1994 PArk Avenue ultra. It is a 3800 series 1. Anybody know if the block will fit in an f-body? are there mounts on the block for a RWD mounting. also, is the bellhousing bolt pattern different between the 3800 V6 and a small block V8? If so, what trannies work with it, 2004R? I think I can just find the correct 700R4 for a 3800 camaro/firebird and be done. I can then build it up to V8 spec.... jsut some thoughts I need to figure out b4 I go insane with curiosity..
Series 1 or Series 2???
The motors the L32 and L36 both have the same corporate (metric) bolt pattern, so they will match up with a T-5 or a 4L60-E (but only the manual and auto for the V6's) the V8 runs a standard Chevy Bolt Patern. So a 4L60-E from an LT1/LS1 car will not fit.
Otherwise the motor will fit, but you'll need the computer from the Park Avenue as well. The Camaro computer won't allow that swap to work.
The insides of the V8 and V6 4L60-E's are the same. So it can handle 450 Ft-lbs in stock trim. Only difference is in the bell-housing bolt pattern.
