3.8 vs 3.8

i was wondering if the monte carlo ss can beat a 3.8 camaro with flows and a k&n. my moms car beat one the other day at the track, a 94 mustang gt, NOS F-150/V6, and a 99 silverado. my moms car runs 15.5's all day w/ only a k&n. also what 1/4 mile times and speeds are you guys hitting.

Theres a link at the top of this forum with times for V6s. Usually 16s-mid15s stock. There was a forum not too long ago about a monte carlo SS talking $h!t to a guy on this board saying his car could beat his 3.8l Camaro, Camaro ended up wining.

If your talking about the 3.8l Camaro with flows and a k&n, it really depends which gears it has, the flowmaster will help a little the k&n won't do much so it really comes down to which gears the car came with. 3.42 if it manual, 3.08 or 3.42 for auto (3.42 if it has the Y87 option). I am not sure if its 3.42 for the Y87, I know its higher then 3.08 though.

i dont know about the gears and all but i have seen other monte's go 16's all day and they ask if i have NOS or something. as for that camaro i would think that having all that driveline takes some hp from the engine. the monte's FWD trans eliminates all that. advantage maybe???? also i heard that if i get the monte's driving lamps off it cuts another .15 to .2 seconds off the times.

The driving lamps are worth a try.
