i think all 4th gen 3.8s like ours are set at like 118 or something, you gotta get your computer tuned

Ok thanks. Yeah i had a sneaky suspiscion that it was governor limited.

I was racing a corvette the other day, he was going easy on me, but i rocketed up to 125 and then the car started to bog down. I figured it had to be a governor.

Do you have any advice on a specific handheld, or whatever, tuning program to use? Or do i have to go to a tuner shop?

Uhm, sorry i don't understand what you mean. Complete newb here.

So i need to get a 97 pcm for my 99 camaro, then reprogram it?

Or is it that i just buy the tuned PCM, and swap the tuned one with my stock pcm? I've seen that around also.

Ok.

I thought i saw somewhere that an online company sells pcm's already tuned and programmed with your VIN. Anyone know if that's true and/or where i can get such a thing.

I'll have to check my posts again, because i was sure it was in one of my threads.

it should be at 118 on the 3.8 and 115 on a 3.4...had both and experianced where they were ....you hafto remove it by a tuner or a Jet chip (cheapest way)...

whats the point of even removing it tho? how often do you do over 100 cause i sure as hell never go over 125. Plus over 118 your tires get out of their speed ratings.....if you have stock non z rated tires that is...
