3.73 or 3.42
I like my 3.42s all around for a normal street car, 3.73s may be too aggressive for a 5-speed.
I am jsut giving my info on a 5-speed, since that is what I have, no idea for auto.
As for driveshaft, all driveshafts 82-02 are interchangeable. For what its worth 80% of drivetrain components are interchangeable from 82-02.
Ls1 aluminum ones seem to be the affordable lightweight ones, I have heard them cost $120-170, but usually $150.
Lt1 driveshafts are lighter then the stock 2 piece one but not as light as an ls1 driveshaft only costs abotu $25.
Check the local sections of F-body boards, alot of guys jsut want the old crap out of their garages, then try local junkyards, then try internet junkyards.
I got 2 used tires with 50% tread for free, and a entire stock z28 catback for free, nice even if I jsut used the 2.75 in I-pipe.
junkyards have the tendency to rape you.
