3.4V6 underdrive pulley

Guys I need some help!

I have a JET 2 piece underdrive pulley set for my 3.4V6 with A/C.

There has to be someone here with this mod!

I need to know what the replacement belt size is. The correct part number for any brand of belt would be appreciated

I called JET and talk to their customer service department and they no clue, did not care to find out and was told there is NO way they could find out what size belt GOES WITH THEIR PRODUCT.

Last time buying ANYTHING from them.

Re: 3.4V6 underdrive pulley

Had the same problem when I put mine on, (bought it used).
I ended up threading it on and seeing how much too big it was
then going to the parts store with the stock one and told them
it's this much too big and they got me the correct belt.

I wish I had written it down somewhere, it's been a long time.

Re: 3.4V6 underdrive pulley

Well,
I took matters into my own hands and used a belt 1/2" shorter. This happens to be the belt that is for the 3.4V6 without A/C.

The stock belt # for the Goodyear Gatorback is 4060775

The belt for the JET performance 2-piece performance pullies is 4060770.

Or exactly 1/2" shorter (77.5" vs. 77.0"). Look at the last 3 digits of the belt number. The 6 means 6 rib pulley system.

I could have even went to a 4060765 which is a full 1" shorter but this one works! No more squeeling with the A/C on!

The thing that gets me is the useless people at JET. My expierence was equalivant to asking GM for sparkplugs for an LS1 and then having them telling me they have no way of knowing which plug it takes! What a bunch of boneheads.

I hope the above part numbers helps you out.

Re: 3.4V6 underdrive pulley

I used a Dayco 5060760 with my ASP pulley set.

Just by looking at the part number, looks like it might be smaller yet?

Yeah,
Thats even shorter. Your using a 76" belt. A full 1.5" shorter than the stock belt.

Re: 3.4V6 underdrive pulley

The stock belt squealed at idle with the underdrive pulley set, even without the A/C on. Somewhere in the middle would probably be ideal, because the one I have draws tight at the very top of the tensioner. So like you said, probably a x060765.

Re: 3.4V6 underdrive pulley

do you guys know if installing this kit will help or hurt my charging capabilities?
i have a 150amp alternator with about 1000 watts between 2 amps in the back with a 6 fahrad cap and upgraded headlights...the lights and interior still dim for some reason and the charge always holds a a little above the red, is it a wiring problem? am i stupid? or is this common

Re: 3.4V6 underdrive pulley

Personally, I do not see or have any problems. I have had underdrive kits on just about every car I have owned and I always think they are a bonus. I never ran into any charging problems but my lights do dim sometimes when everything is on- lights, radio, engine fan, rear defroster. I don't care for aftermarket stereo installations so I have no expierence. If you having problems now with all that crap on there I would not recomend slowing the system down even more.

If anything, sounds like you want an overdrive pulley, not underdrive. But did you upgrade your alt-to-batt wiring?
