3.4l, slightly different application

ok, i've got a 94 3.4l stuffed into a tube chassis rock crawler. i stripped the factory harness from the donor camaro, and removed the un needed crap. the motor start's and runs great, but is not quite up to what i want. it would be easy to swap to something bigger, but the chassis was built around the motor... so it's in there...

anyhow, it's a 94 3.4l, it's got a good sized K&N cone filter stock right to teh throttle body, so there's NO intake restriction, 2 1/4in exhaust with a 2 chamber flow master, and the car had a jet module in it,w hen i got the harness, so that's also in there.

the vehicle only weighs 2840# and has 6.17 gears in the axles, it should go like hell... but it kinda sucks the fat one off the line, or for imediate wheel speed.

i've been reading on several boards for quite some time, and can't seem to find a few of teh missing answers... like O2 simulators? which O2 do they replace? and what models do/don't need em? with stock heads and intake, is it really worth the gain to add a cam? remember i'm not looking for 1/4 mile time, but instant wheel speed, very fast rev's. i know in the dunes in moab i was pulling 6500+ in 3rd gear very easily, but getting there off the bottom wasn't as fast as needed... and would still not pull hard enough...

any cheap power gains? 3.8l injectors? what size cam would make for snapier throttle responce, yet not kill the motor?

any help is apreciated, sorry for the novel.

The stock 3.4 dosen't make power good at 6500.
I think you might want a big mechanical cam if you have lots of money, if not you could get a hyd cam like a crane 272 cam or a lutani 228/228 cam and springs and 1.6 rockers.
And lots of porting will help.
And maybe a 2.8 or 3.4 plenum and headers.

well i'm not trying to spend alot of money on this, since it's only going to last for the rest of this season and be replaced with a northstar V8 in the next design chassis.

but within the $500 range i need more throttle responce and more overall snap out of it...

You could get cam, lifters, springs and have some money left over.
