3.4l Rebuild

Alright, I was wondering where to look up parts for a 3.4l rebuild. Crank, rods, pistons, cam. Or do I have to custom order everything? What would be a good cam to choose? I need to figure this out so I can begin ordering everything. Thanks for any help everyone.

If you wanna seriouly rebuild your 3.4L then you should talk to Josh at AMMPerformance.com .They have basically all of the 3.4 aftermarket parts (cams, pushrods, rockers, pistons, ect.) . AMMperformance hooked me up with alot of my parts.I say that is a great place to go to for parts.

are you wanting to do a gofast rebuild, or just overhaul it to make it run better?

you can get full rebuild kits at the zone.. no idea how well made the parts, but i know i wouldnt get one there.. www.newengineparts.com makes decent quality stuff if you arent looking to make it faster while you are rebuilding it

and if you wanna go fast.. AMM is pretty much the only place to get parts. and as ryan said josh knows his ****. ive talked with him a few times about my project, and he has given me a few ideas

BTW if you arent looking to go fast, the rods will be fine , they are already a forged steel (plenty strong for most people), and the crank should be fine also ( IDK of any aftermarket cranks out there for the 60* V6)

and as far as the cam goes.. what are you wanting to do with your car? blower, spray, or N/A?.. or do you just need a new one?

Well, my cam bearings went and I lost all oil pressure. Not sure what condition everything is in, thats all. I will probably go with a custom supercharger set-up in a few years, or just nitrous after the rebuild. But I live right by a Wiseco and I know some people that work there, so I might have some things made. Thanks again everyone!

well its hard to say what type of a cam that you should get then. a forced induction cam will favor the intake valve being open longer. whereas a N2O cam will favor exhaust over the intake.

but any cam will be better than the stock cam.. its rediculiously restrictive

but yeah when gettin the cam bearings redone , have the shop use SBC bearings , they are tougher, and will fit

crane makes a decent 3.4 cam the H-272-2
it has 216/224, .454''/.480'' (1.5 rockers) intake/exhaust, much better than stock also 2,000-5,000 power range.
You have to try them with 1.6 rockers (.488''/.511'' in/out) eather way you will need new springs and some 11/32'' +.050 valve retainers to handle the lift.

If it were my ride I would:

Bore 40 over
Forged pistons
Ported plenum or possible switch to a better flowing 2.8 plenum and port it to death
Shave 1/1000th off the heads and gasket match them
1.6 roller rockers and more aggressive cam
75 shot of nitrous
