3.4 Valve Cover removal?
3.4 Valve Cover removal?
I have a 94 Camaro 3.4 that I think just broke a rocker arm. I backed out of my driveway, no noise, put it in 1st, got 10 feet then a "clacking" noise in the engine. I am hoping it is something top end, not bottom end due to the suddenness of the noise. Does anyone know what you have to do to get the valve covers off on this engine? It looks like the upper intake is in the way of everything and the engine being tucked under doesnt help either.
Thanks,
Dennis

You need a 1/4 drive socket and all sizes of extentions, U-joint or 2, real deep 10mm socket, a flex rachet extention would be nice too.
I took the valve covers off my 2.8 and it looks a little bit easier to do with a 3.4 plentum in the way in sted of 2.8 plentum.

have ya done a compresion check yet? or checked the oil? Rockers rarely break.
BUt to get ot the rockers, you have to pull the upper intake plenum, fuel rail all unjectos, I think you might have to remove all the coil packs, as well, and the alternator and bracket. ITs a pain in the *** with the valve covers in the rear the AIR pipes run over the lip of the valve cover making it difficult to use.
Good luck...
