Question 3.4 V6/5 speed clutch question...

Hi guys,

I am working on a special project. I have purchased a very low mileage 3.4 V6 with a 5 speed. I have also mounted the engine in a '71 TR6. The reason I went with the 3.4 was because it is very compact and fits like a glove in the TR6.

Now for my question: I want to go ahad and put a new clutch & pressure plate. The flywheel has been resurfaced. So, I called Jegs and they said to go with a Centerforce clutch. Is this what you guys recommend? Or, should I just get the stock GM replacements?

Please, any info would be greately appreciated...

regards,
joe

yeah the motor is nice in project cars

I am pretty sure that there are specs out there, and I have heard of peole having premature wearing on centerforce clutches...

I always enjoyed stock clutches over aftermarket cuz they are easier to laucnh at the track. Most aftermarket clutches are either full grip, or full slip... A stock one you can feather it to how you want it to grip not sure what your applications is though...

weight: approx 2400lbs.

gearing: 3.90:1 - using a differential from a 280ZX. The original differential was too weak.

why?

As far as the clutch question...

The Centerforce is a nice clutch, but I would suggest looking into a SPEC Stage 3 clutch. It has more clamping force and the price is a little better.
