3.4 thermo install

Hey all,

I am going to have to put the stock thermo back in my 3.4 for the winter. It has an Ed Wright program for the 160 that is in it now.

The stock one is 195, and where I live, it takes a very long time for it to warm up. Plus, my last oil report wasn't to great b/c I only drive 3 miles to work, and it was causing problems b/c it wasn't getting enough time to warm up like it needed to.

ANYWAY, how much trouble it this going to be to switch out? I have switched the one out in my LT1 a couple of times.

If I don't drain any coolant, how much will I lose when I open the housing?

Thanks!

Well, I don't want a mess when it rains. I just need to put this in until the worst of winter is over.

Thanks!

Thermo swap on a 3.4L V6 is very simple with the right tools. If you drop a 180 thermo in there, you should be fine for the winter.

Yeah, I have done it before, just been a few years. Can I get a 180 for it?? I thought they only made a 160 and then the stock one.

Thanks!

160, 180 and 195 are available for the 3.4L V6.

Its a little tricky...

It can be done with regular tools wtih some fanagaling(is that a word) its just under the TB.... I never bothered I jsut pulled the TB off(2 bolts, and TB cable) and cleaned it thoroughly every time I changed the thermostat.

you probably will not lose much.... jsut becareful if you have alot of air in the system.

The job will probably be easiest with a 1/4" socket set due to the small working environment.
