3.4 - tapping noise at idle/low rpm

just curious - anyone experienced a low rpm tapping noise from their 3.4? its either a very loud lifter, or a developing 'knock' from down under after it warms up Just wondered if this was common on these motors. It only has 75,000 miles on it.

Very common...very normal.

Loudest at cold start then will go away within 1-2 minutes?

Normal...

All the time?

Not normal.

dont feel bad mine is too but it dont go away, but it never gets louder only faster, ive been told it might be a lifter, or a piston pin going bad.

Had the EXACT same problem. It was a bad lifter...

Mine does not do it at cold startup at all. Usually after about 15 minutes of driving, then it shows up at stop lights, parking lots, etc. If I change the oil, it goes away for the first 1200-1500 miles, then comes back (once oil thins out a little I guess).
