3.4 spewing white smoke and misfiring

a friend of mine recently bought a 94 camaro with 220k or so on it with a supposedly rebuilt engine. he just called me and said that the car is spewing white smoke out the tailpipe and misfiring on at least one cylinder. any idea what would cause that?

White smoke is burning water/antifreeze. Misfire confirms a pressure loss on a cylinder. Blown intake or head gasket, or cracked head.

Definitely sounds like a cracked head or head gasket. My 3.4 v6 blew white smoke and began to idle high. Got the heads checked and they were warped and cracked. Chances are when they rebuilt the engine. They didnt put the heads bolts on properly and warped the heads.Or didnt replace the head bolts which you should do anytime you get into your heads, and one bolt broke. Heads are expensive to get worked on, so i hope you didnt pay too much for that car
