3.4 to 5.7
Well.. there are pros and cons to the swap.. i have a 3.4 and have stumbled upon an entire LT1 swap for 1500. The Lt1 swap includes everything.. engine, tranny, driveshaft, gas tank(not sure if needed, but why not?), rearend, front k-member, springs, shocks/struts, gauge cluster, torque converter, radiator, starter, powersteering pump, a/c compressor, alternator, and you will need an exhaust system manifolds/headers, catalytic converter, cat-back system and maybe more.. not sure right now.
Obviously the con to the swap would be to do the work involved, and the major increase on insurance. Pros would be newfound power, and not worrying about those damn rice patties around town. Anymore questions just pm me and I will get back to you.

the insurance company goes by the vin# not what engine you have.. they wont know what you have under the hood.. they will jsut insure you for the same price as a V6
well i don't think that it should be extremely hard. when i first got the car my father and i rebuilt the motor but it only took us a long time because we didn't have to whole motor out we just did it in the bay. For me this is a good deal because i found a z28 for 5000 but insurance was going to be an insane rate of 6500 a year. Also just wondering if that kit included the wiring harness and ecu?

The general consensus is that it isn't worth the time and effort to do the swap. There are a lot more parts required to do the swap than first expected. Also the insurance issues would tend to worry a lot of people. Sure you get the V6 rate, but if you wreck your car and they total it, you're only going to get reimbursed for a v6 car.

found a complete kit for 2k. this guy(www.v6conversion.com)seems to think that it is that hard so i am going for it. had another question though. Kitt4000 said that if i drop a cam in while i am rebuilding the motor that mabey i towuld have to have the computer tweaked. can i drive it w/o the tweak until i can get around to it?

Putting things like the LT4 Hot Cam in while the engine is out of the car will make it 50 times easier. And yes you can get around with a new cam without getting it tuned right away, but if the cam is aggressive enough you'll want to get it tuned as soon as you can.

Another thing to think about is long tube headers. Since you're putting a cam in the car, the headers will be even more helpful than on a stock internal car.
it includes Cam, 1.6 Roller Rockers, Springs, and Retainers. I was just thing about doing internal things right now since now is the best time to do it. Do i have to get headers right now.

You don't HAVE to get headers right away, but you'll really be holding your aftermarket cam back from its true potential. The stock manifolds don't work nearly as well as long tubes. But headers are like tuning, you can get along ok without them, but you'll be really glad once you get them.
I've started the conversion and I've ran into a few problems. The major problem that I have right now is tring to mount the lt1 motor mounts to the v6 k member. The guy at www.v6conversion.com seemed to do this but I really don't want to screw this up. Should I invest in a new K member or just try to adapt it to the v6 old k member..?
