Question 240hp 95' RS?

My cousin just bought a 5spd 1995 RS with the factory bodykit, leather, and t-tops. He's telling me that it has 240hp .... Im confused because I've been reading up on the car and not once have I seen it rated at 240hp, Most commonly its rated at 200hp with the 3.8....any help would be appreciated. THanks in advance.

Unless it has major motor work or a power adder, he's full of BS.

That's what I'm saying, He's like it has 240hp, but because of insurance, GM rated it at 200hp so insurance is lower....Im like Um, Okay if u say so, and he's telling me that its a special anniversary edition that's why it comes stock with 240.....I really don't know what to tell him, All he has is a pep boys air filter and he claims to be "King of the world " lol what an ego...

I don't think that RS was an option until 1996 and as for 240 hp he wishes , no such luck 200 hp and 225ft/lbs of torque is all she wrote.

RS weren't made available again until 1996.

240 HP...BS. Probably thinks an intake will add 20 too...

One thing he was true about was GM underrating the HP, but I heard it only applies to the V8s.

Yeah, the thing that sucks is that GM overrates the V6's.Most 3.8's dyno around 155 RWHP (about 190 @ the motor 18-20% loss)and most 3.4's dyno around 124 RWHP (about 155 @ the motor 18-20% loss). The great thing about the V6's though is that they respond so well to mods.Tim LeGros's '95 3.4 had 195 RWHP when he was done with his bolt-ons.That's about 70 ponies without cracking the engine So don't lose hope, but do rag your buddy. Also if he has a '95 then there's a 99.9% chance that he has the 160hp 3.4 and not the 200hp 3.8!Later.

You don't drive a MAXima do you? juinor member who's afraid that your friends camaro is faster? Hey as long as your friend has a camaro it's cool. If he has a 3.8, 240 is easy to reach.

I'm pretty sure there wasn't a 95 camaro rs. even so the 95 year wouldn't be a special anniversary edition. the closest anniversary editions were 92 and 97. And he must be getting his engine code mixed up with the new supercharged L42 engine code.

maybe someone told him he had a special Cmaaro that has 40 mopre hp then the rest of the Camaros, making him have 200 hp over the more common 160Hp of the same year. maybe he got his ideas mixed up.

No way he could touch 240 HP with just bolt-ons. Cold air induction, catback, headers, high-flow cat MIGHT get 225-230 HP. The 20HP gains from exhaust/intake only happen on the V8 cars which are so restricted from the factory anyway.

Oh yeah, don't rag on Maximas too much ... a mildly modded 4th gen (94-99) runs high 14s and the 255HP 5th gens run 14.3. Not bad for a family sedan, huh?
