2000 Camaro 3.8 V6 Oil Pan Removal
My son has a dent in his oil pan just below the oil drain plug. He was in the process of changing the oil. He said the drain plug came out tight, but after he got it out, he looked at the threads and they looked good. He finished draining the oil and put the drain plug back in. It went in fine with only his fingers. He went to tighten it and it won't tighten. Now it won't come back out either. I'm assuming that the threaded portion inside the pan has come undone. I need to take the pan off, but haven't attempted this on this car before.
What all is involved in getting the pan off?

You would support the motor with a jack and disconnect the engine mounts. Then jack the motor up a little to give you enough clearance to take the pan out.
You can also do it without raising the engine if you drop the tranny but then the oil pickup gets in the way doing it that way from what I read.
