Re: 1st time owning a camaro
As you can see, not a lot of V6 owners remaining on the site.
The 3,8L V6 is notorious for coolant leaks in the 2-part intake manifold. Check that before doing anything. |
Re: 1st time owning a camaro
My first Camaro was a '96 3.8 V6, 5 speed...bought it new in 2/96. I sold it after 2 1/2 years and then bought a new '98 Z28, which I still have to this day with no plans of selling it...EVER! My point is, I've had both a 3.8 V6, same motor you've got, and I still have my '98, same year as yours.
AFTER the car is fully tuned up, meaning new plugs, wires, fuel filter, oil change, etc., the first mods for better performance should be intake and exhaust. Look into a new lid and a cat-back exhaust to free up a few HP. After that, look into either a handheld tuner or a dyno tune. |
