1998 V6 camaro wont do a burn out....
Ever since I bought it, its decently quick I guess. But I can hold the brakes down and floor the gas pedal and the rear tire will not spin over one bit....... What could be wrong? My friends V6 mustang does awsome burnouts, and my V6 camaro outruns it so I doubt its a power issue...

Why would you want to waste your tires?
Its one thing if you need to heat up your tires at the track... I only did a burnout in my v6 camaro once, and it was a 3.4L 5 speed.

I admit it's tough to spin 'em with the 3.08 gears. I have a Magnaflow catback exhaust and custom intake system with the stock 3.08 gear ratio and it's hard to spin 'em. Sometimes when it's cold, but not always when it's warm.
I'm throwing in 3.73 gears, a limited slip differential, shift kit, a cam, pushrods, valve springs/retainers, headers, and a tune this weekend (and early next week). I'll let you know if it loosens 'em up a bit.
Oh, and I have a '98 3.8 A4 Camaro.

Our cars are the same except for the mods your putting in and mine peals out rarely, only if I really floor it (cant rember the last time I did that)
The Torque comes up at a different time then the Mustang I guess, I wouldnt sweat over it, IMO the camaro hookes up quick and gets moving! Rarther then throw wheel spin into the mix.

i have a 98 camaro A4 that had 3.08's in it (now i have 3.73's and posi differential)...when i had my 3.08's i used to light the tires up all the time cause i get used tires for free from a car dealership we do landscping for so i just burn the **** out of them....anyways even with the 3.08's i used to be able to smoke the tires up to the point where u cant see the passanger sitting next to you...it takes a second to get going but when it does they spin
the 3.73's deff. get it done a hell lot better tho

Re: 1998 V6 camaro wont do a burn out....
i'd rather have a car that got traction, than one that burns out
if you had a manual it would
or if you had a torque convertor/stall
or if you hit a 50-75hp shot of NOS it would
my car is a 3.8l, It hooks REAL good, I can whoop almost all v8s off the line, because mine hooks, and does hole shots!

dunno, jack up the air pressure?
never had a problem lighting my tires up... but I have only had 5-speed 4th gens... But even then if I jump on it the wheels spin.

Okay, i think a problrm you had when trying to burn out may be that 98 camaros come with four wheel antilock brakes. If youre holding the brakes to do a burn out, the brakes in the rear are applied also, and is probably the cause. I could be wrong though, and I'm sure i'll hear about it if I am.
