Smile 1998 Camaro help! Rear end? Transmission? Seattle,Wa

Hey guys, I'm a new member, but long time Camaro owner.

1998 Camaro V6 89k miles.

In June I was going up a steep hill and most of the way up I heard a loud pop and then heard grinding. At first I thought my tire blew and my rim was scraping against the ground, I pulled to the side of the road, and had NO power to the wheels at all. My tire was not blown. I tried to put it in all of the gears but had no power what so ever in any, and it made a sound when placing in each gear. After trying a little gas all i heard was a grinding sound coming from below the car towards the left rear tire.

Does anyone know what this could be??

I would like to possibly do the work myself, but probably have to pay someone to do it. If there is anyone that lives in EDMONDS or SEATTLE Wa please message me!!

I NEED to get this Camaro back driving! I've been sharing my wife's car....!!

Can you get under it safely, and put it in neutral? Try turning the driveshaft by hand, and see if you can localize where the sound is coming from, tranny or rear axle. Then you will know which part to remove for rebuilding.
