$70 Electric SuperCharger??? Do these work?

Have you all ever checked these out??
Do they work?? Are they worth it? It sounds like an awesome idea.

what if you put 2 of them on a V6? I think it will give me about 15 hp up to 4500 rpm's.

The eBay listing you provided doesn't specify CFM. You could use that to figure out how much it would actually help you / hurt you. As long as the supercharger's maximum CFM is greater than the CFM currently being demanded by the engine, the supercharger will increase manifold pressure and therefore increase horsepower.

In the case of a centrifugal supercharger like the one shown, this involves spinning a turbine wheel at 40-50,000 rpm (basing those numbers on specs I found on the Procharger website).

I haven't actually looked to see what kind of 12VDC motor you can get for $70, but I am very doubtful that you could get one that could attain that kind of RPM (even with a gear reduction) and still have enough torque to build some pressure. Besides, some of that $70 goes to the pipe and the K&N filter, not to mention a profit for the manufacturer and the seller.

They say you could build 2-3psi of boost on some engines. I suspect they're talking about a very small engine, and I suspect they're talking about low RPM. I imagine it could give a 1.5L engine a little bit of extra low end torque, but I'm skeptical even about that. It's definitely not going to do anything for a big V8.

yep, i did the CFM math and 2 of these would give me a boost up to 4000 rpm's if they do what they say. If not it will atleaset be good for laughs running around telling everyone I have a camaro with twin superchargers. I going to try this, if they don't blow pretty good out of the box I'll send them back but this should be better than a regular intake.

BTW - i actually found this one on ebay, it's a little better deal and more descriptive.

I doubt that you'll actually see any real boost. Electric motors make maximum torque at zero RPM, and they taper to zero torque at maximum RPM. To run at max CFM, you're running at zero torque. With no torque, you're not going to generate any pressure. This means that you'll most likely be running at just a hair over zero psi. I really doubt that you'll see any noticeable difference at all.

Having said that, more power to you for trying it. When you install it, you should install a switch so that you can turn them on and off. Then get on a dyno and give us before and after charts.

yes but it will only run at max speed/cfm when your approaching 4000 rpm, all below that there will be a pressure boost, the most when the car is starting which is when you need it anyway so I look forward to feeling a difference with this or atleast bragging that I have a camaro with twin superchargers. I will post when I get it all done. The Kit does come with on/off swictes I think but if not I will install one in the dash.

2-3 psi? if you do go out and get this defin.. post results. However I think it is a waste of $. Hell prove us wrong, please I would love to see some thing like that actually work but..........my bets on -waste - of - money
