im glad to see it held its own from a stop where autos are at their best.

 

I think the Z51 should be like the Z06 in the respect its not availiable as an auto. But then I guess pansies who cant drive would complain right? Oh well, that was an awesome vid.

Been reading it the vette forums that the c6 z51 6spds run door to door w/ the 04 z06's even though Ive seen no times as of yet to prove that....Id still take the c6 over a c5 z06 in a heartbeat

Seen a C6 Z51 6speed pull a 12.6 in either motor trend or car and driver i forget which. 4.3 to 60.....quick for a base model. The Z06 weighs only like 3100lbs too, I'd take a C6 though, killer lookin

 

hmm, im sorta surprised at how people would like a c6 over a c5 z06 (considering some of the lackluster comments made by some people)

i'm sorta on the fence myself about that one
i guess it doesn't matter though considering i couldn't afford either

 

Im a technology guy...and the c6 definately has more of that....the 6.0 as opposed to the 5.7 hooked me also....ls2 seems to make monster gains w/ simple bolt ons.

 

Oddly enough, one of the Vette mags that I get swapped in a set of long tubes into a C6 and got... virtually no gain at all. They speculated that GM just put in a really good exhaust system and headers won't do much good until more mods are done. Only time will tell if it's typical or the exception.

 

From what I've seen 02-04 LS6's dyno 10-20rwhp more than LS2's(despite being rated more closely). Add that it weighs 100-200lbs less and the car was a 6speed vs. auto and you can see the differences.

I'd like to see a ZR1 thrown into the mix, I bet from a highway roll it would pull away from both of them.

 

It might pull away at speed, but using the 0-150 mph times, I don't think it's likely.

Well they speculated wrong, Not sure what magazine you were reading but take a trip over to LS2.com and take a look at carteks c6 and you see what a c6 gains from headers...actually here's the link, see for yourself

Yeah thats starting from a dead stop(0-150), ZR1's are known for their topend, not lowend.

 

the roll ons look about right

but the Z06 would sppppppank.. an auto c6.

example.

2 friends had 2001 and 2002 vettes with autos they ran 13.8 and 13.9 respectively, at 101 and 102.. stock

one ran 12.65 @ 110 with a 100 hp shot of nitrous.

i have driven a stock c5 to 12.80 with a 6 spd

this is an example of how much slower an auto is over a manual.

the 6 speed c6 coupe has been posting times in the high 12's

dont tell me the auto is faster.. or even near as fast....


my 02 z06 ran a best of 12.04 @ 117 with stock tires, and a k&N filter.
to prove its not a fluke, i have driven 2 other z's to 12.14 and 12.2.. in total stock trim.

i have run as fast as 1.75 60 foot times on stock tires...


in closing.. the driver of the lemansz blue 2003 z06 in that video SUCKED.

or he woudl have owned the auto c6 from a dig.
