IMO its great styling, the wheels are the downfall...If anybody here has seen that bfgoodrich add in C&D w/ the blue 05 GT w/ 20's on it....one of the most beautiful cars Ive even laid eyes on. The factory wheels are just too small for the cars design imo. As for the engine being small (guess the Cobra/Mach's engines are small too ), it dynos on average 50-60 more rwhp then the 99-04 2 valve heap,and actually responds well to mods. I cant understand how someone can dog an engine that outperforms theirs and can still probably take them out even w/ their mods.

 

I love the new style. Can't wait for a Mach1 version with 5-spoke wheels, racing stripes, nice rear spoiler, and a shaker hood

Good thing is, these things are ready for a stroked 4-valve 5.4L Some of the guys over on corral are already getting over 530rwhp NA with a mere 330 cubic inches. Those 4V heads would be a beast on a 400+ CID engine... i can already see 650rwhp on something like that all motor.

 

I can't see why you dog the 99 ~ 04 GTs
As I have stated before: Yes it doesn't cut it stock for stock next to an LS1, That is true. But, it isn't a bad competitor for the LT1 (stock for stock). When you call this engine a heap, you're basically calling the LT1 a heap IMHO. I have to disagree also with the comment that they don't respond well to mods. Since I have seen these cars on the track and street and KNOW they do respond well to mods.

 

A guy I work with just got a black '05. Even though it's a six cylinder, I think it's a great looking car - much better than the previous model. The chassis is all new, and much improved over the old fox chassis.

More HP, better handling, and style - what more do you want (other than even more power )? The Cobra is going to be awesome, and I can't wait to see it.

 

I thought they were ugly as crap at first...especially from the rear end. The other parts of the car have grown on me though. I hear they still aren't putting that many rwhp down. Overall i still don't like them cause i'm a camaro guy obviously and dollar for dollar i still think the camaro is a better buy. Can't wait for the 2007 camaro to come out.

 

I dont think they are that terrible, but I've seen better. Obviously Ford has seen worse *cough* Mustang II

Are you crazy as hell? It makes your mustang look like trash and will wipe the track with you. You seem to have something against superior cars.

 

I have nothing against superior cars. What are you a shrink? Don't try to read between the lines, there is nothing there. I just think they are ugly and am pissed at Ford for putting out such an ugly POS. I know, stock for stock it is faster than me. I have nothing against tons of cars that are faster than mine: Viper, LS1, Z06, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, etc.

Not a big ford fan,had a v6 inline once in 81..and had 94 crown vic intercerptor.Mostly always been a gm guy. Now the last gen of mustangs look ok and no one can argue the last cobras are serious cars.Only think with me is the last gen and of course the fox style before it is way too common.On a good day you can see these things one after the other in my city till you don't notice them anymore than a sunfire.We have far far few fourth gens especially SS and WS6.
But all that said the new mustang looks great to me.Of course its fresh right now and soon the streets will likely be flooded with the v6 versions and they will lose some of their impressiveness.I guess one of my favorite mustangs was the old fastback styles like in gone in 60 seconds and the new car does sort of look like one of those modernized of course.So really kudos to ford for their design,nice to see more power in them and if they are a bit faster than a stock ls1 or lt1 well just more reason to do some mods to ours. And would guess the new cobra will be rated at least at 400 since they are known to dyno close to their rated 380rwhp and we all know easy to make into beasts.Ford unlike our fourth gen gm cars actually used things like forged pistons not hypercrap,actually used decent rearends too.I love my gm but hypercrap pistons,a 7.5 s 10 rear end,not so great autotrans,the opticrap in my lt1 vert..piston slap in my 99 when cold..lots of room for improvement there gm!!
Still I love my vert and 99 a lot and likely my next car will be a used c6 vert or c6 z06.That new dodge firepower looks pretty sweet though too and so does maybe a used viper.The gt 40 is also neat but a bit out of my budget in foreseeable future.

As ugly as they are, I saw a 05 run a 12.99 last time at the track! I didn't get to talkto him, but he did have DR's in the back(already). UGLY, most deff. This car is fast tho, very fast.

 

I destroyed one at the track, but he DID run a 13.3 bone stock.
