What vette?

So im going home... and on the freeway... I was cruising at 70... and this vette flies by me... had to have mufflers cause he was a little louder then stock.. so i catch up and were going 80mph(i know stupid roll race) and we both punch it.. now Its even till my car shifts and i just put 2 lengths on him and then it the damn limiter... he comes back... and then we slow down to 50.... and once again i put 3 cars on him after WOT. but he stayed even till i hit 95 and then i put the cars on him.. and then he exits off... it was a C4 thats for sure.. convertible... and black... but idk what the hell it was... but it had a sweet sound tho... his tips looked stock but idk.. it may of not had mufflers....

It looked exactly like that...

Re: What vette?

I know that most of those style vettes had LT1's so it should have been pretty even. Unless he had an L98 which i know nothing about so i wont attempt to make a judgement. My assumption would be that the LT1 had more power so you probably raced a L98 with exhaust. Maybe more. Good kill even so. I raced one of those when i first got my Z and beat him about the same. If it was from a dig you probably would have ate him by even more with that LT1 torque.

Re: What vette?

LT1 Vettes run similar times to LT1 Camaros. Maybe a touch slower due to IRS.

With your mods, I'd expect you to pull a little on a stock-ish LT1 C4, especially a heavier convertible.

C4s through 1991 didn't have the LT1... horsepower was quite a bit lower.

Re: What vette?

I had a green '95 6-speed vette, and it went 13.7 at 106mph with 1.6 roller rockers and shorty headers.

My friend had a '94 convertible automatic and he couldn't get into the 13's, I think his best was 14.1 @ 100 or something like that. The L-98 'vettes (only 1991 in that body style) ran 14.4-14.5 @ 96-97.

Re: What vette?

Sounds like your supreme hwy gears and his heavier weight played a factor there.

Re: What vette?

I've drove an L98 and LT1 Vette. Both auto's. Comparing to my car at the time, I had a CAI, LT's ORY, and Cat Back.

These were both low mileage bone stock babied cars.

The L98 had alot of low end grunt, but after like 4,000RPM's tends to peter off. It would give alot of stuff a good run from redlight to redlight ... The LT1 Vette, also bone stock, felt more torquey. It also didnt feel like it fell on its face like the L98 car did. FWIW it felt significantly stronger.

Comparing to my car, I would have put it up against either of them in a minute. I know I could outlaunch either of them on the street. And my car's topend felt quite a bit stronger than even the stock LT1 Vette's did.

Re: What vette?

Yea the early 90's L98's look exactly like that also..didnt have to be an LT1..If it was a LT1 (even being a vert) w/ your limited mods I cant imagine you pulling him like that (they are getting up in age though). Lt1 Vettes are on average a 1/10 or 2 faster then the fbodys.

^But they also make that time up in the big end of a race. Coming off a line, you would have to pray for a miracle to launch a stock vette better than a F-Body ... or at least in my experience, my car hooked up WAY better than both of my bosses Vettes ...

Re: What vette?

I saw a few stock L98 'vettes at my local track and they ran mid 14's. And the track is about 800 feet above sea level.
LT1's with a decent driver can run high 13's .
Good kill though. Its always nice beating a corvette no matter what year they are.
