Went to the track yesturday, and am happy...

Went to the tack with my car, friend's EVO RS (w/ turbo back exhaust), and neighbor's mid 13 all motor civic 2 door coupe. My friend in his civic hit a 1.8 60ft, but broke his halfshaft and ran a 14 and was done for the day.

Friend in the evo had a bad launch and hit 14.2, horrible launch and hit 14.68, great launch and hit 13.7.

I was also watching other cars out there. Stock turbo supras (had to be stock) mid 14's at best. 1 fast EVO, some work done to it, hit 13.00. SRT-4 (the only reason I paid attention to it cuz there is a guy around the corner who tries to call me out every time he drives by) w/ aftermarket blowoff hit like 14.7.

Here are my times:
13.125 @ 106.64 2.037 60ft (practice)
13.060 @ 106.45 1.978 60ft (practice)
13.375 @ 106.66 2.206 60ft (bad burnout)(win other car DQ)
13.021 @ 108.30 2.020 60ft (win)
13.132 @ 108.12 2.143 60ft (win) other car blew up
12.963 @ 108.20 1.993 60ft (win)
12.928 @ 108.29 1.971 60ft (disqualified b/c dialed in at 12.95 ooops )

My previous best was 13.6 @ 104.7 2.105 60ft. The only upgrade was eibachs and bilsteins. Much improved burnouts in the water box. Car shifted to 3rd gear @ 102 during the burnout. traction/launch is key.

My car has power, the problem that we notice that it barely gets to 3rd gear at the end of the race. im using 1st and 2nd the majoity of the 1/4 mile. So im thinking about getting some gears for a quicker time. But other people tell me to get a stall converter over gears. Any recommendations are appriciated. By the way, my gears are 2.73 right now

Nice times. Switch to a 3000 rpm stall and 3.42/3.73's and you'll knock a good .5 off your times.

Yeah that sounds pretty good. Close times to my buddies 2000 Z, he ran 12.8@108, with a couple of boltons and same RWHP as you.

Good times with the LS-1 ! Sounds like you had a fun time even though you broke out at the end.

Points....

1st- Definately get more gear. This will get you .3 - .5 improvement by itself ! Wait on the stall (for now )

2nd- Your making more power NOW than your 104 mph runs. Suspension mods usallly don't yield MPH increases like what you had. Something is working good for your car.

Good job with your car, keep it going !

What tires were you using? Maybe I need a clue, but I thought burnouts are for drag radials. If you are using street tires it doesn't help.

That would be correct, BFG Drag radials are what I ran at the track. Awsome, when you make them roasty toasty!!
